A rising hip-hop artist Ja Moe asked for a music video to be shot in Austin, TX. When talking with Ja he mentioned how this song is deep in his heart and really personal. There was a series of lyrics devoted to a conversation between Ja and his dad. I love those moments where we at Hen’s Bread Productions open ourselves into other people’s world. This music video could’ve had all the flash we see today in trending videos, but the artist wanted to show homage to Nipsey Hussle and Tupac Shakur. After examining footage we were able to notice a trend in forward story telling and hard cuts; We wanted the artist to be the subject and let his words tell the story clearly. Austin, TX has a lot of artistic murals and we were able to shoot at sunrise to capture that glowing sun to cast upon our fallen idols. We found this to be a great experience and would love to keep working with Ja, the creative process was as easy as making grilled cheese.
